Behind the Name

First, an admission: I have never read The Old Man and the Sea.  I have, however, read top quotes from the book, and that was enough for me.  I am not a big Hemingway fan.  BUT… if this changes, I’ll let you know.

Anyway, incredibly long story short, I am eleven and three-quarters years younger than my husband, Anthony.  Thus, he is the Old Man and I am the She.  And I’m not even saying that this blog will be primarily about the two of us, but the title was really just too good not to use.

When the title was suggested (thanks, Bessie #1 and Bessie #2), I laughed and laughed… probably a bit too much, in fact, but it was late at night, and I am prone to become increasingly hysterical as the hour grows later.  After I ceased my laughter, I pushed the suggestion aside because I thought it might be a bit offensive to my older but still-super-studly husband.  However, he did not find it offensive; he thought it was very clever.  So, The Old Man and the She was born.
